7 month photo

I am almost 30 weeks pregnant, but I forgot to take my photo at 28 weeks, so this is close enough.

6 months!

7 1/2 months!
I am really getting big and uncomfortable now.  I cannot believe that I still have at least 2 months to go.  Everything is swelling on me, my fingers, my feet.....I feel like a big puffy mess.  Ahhh.....pregnancy.  This baby is measuring much bigger than Alex did.  I had an ultrasound at 25 weeks, and she was already measuring 2 lbs, which apparently got the attention of the doctor, because she had to reconfirm with me that I would not be delivering this baby, ahem, 'naturally.' Alex was 6 lbs 8 oz at 40 weeks pregnant, just for reference. Quite a difference!

This time around will be quite different from the first delivery because we are having a Cesarean Section.  I had a lot of complications and "issues" with the first delivery, and I have been lucky enough not to have any long-term problems from them.  But my doctor thinks if I go through another traumatic labor, I might not be so lucky the second time around.  So a scheduled C-Section is in our future.  I am not sure how I really feel about it.  I would prefer not to be recovering from major surgery as I care for a newborn and a busy toddler, but I'm sure that we will cope (lots of people do, right?!).  It is a difficult decision because it's not like C-sections are risk-free, so we have had to really weigh the risks of each and try to make an informed decision accordingly.  But one positive of a scheduled section is....the fact that it's scheduled! We are officially on the hospital books for April 21st, so unless things change (like my blood pressure goes haywire again, which is very possible, or she decides to make an earlier appearance) we know when we will be having this baby.  For a planner like myself, I must say that I enjoy that benefit!!!

You look GREAT Jen...and I LOVE the name Kathryn. I know a C-section has got to be hard, but just remember you want a healthy baby and healthy mom!!

I'm sure that two months seems like so far away to you, but it seems like around the corner to me! Hopefully it will fly by for you! I'm sure thinking about the c-section is a bit scary (naturally), but I hope it all goes very well and that you have a speedy recovery!

Having come out the other side of a c-section twice, the second time planned, I'll tell you a planned c-section was awesome! It's so low key and stress free. Yes, it is probably a more difficult recovery than the "traditional" way, but it's probably not as bad as it seems to you right now. As long as you have the pain meds and don't push it activity wise, you'll be in good shape. Just make sure you have plenty of help those first couple of weeks. It won't be long now! :)
