Vocabulary Check

A conversation between Alex and myself this morning:

Alex: Mama?
Me: yes, Alex?
Alex: Cookie!
Me: Are you hungry?
Alex: Eat! Eat! Eat! (while nodding head)
Me: Do you want an apple?
Alex: No!
Me: But you said you were hungry?
Alex: Cookie!!! Cookie!!! Cookie!!!

No problems with comprehension or vocabulary in this department!

7 month photo

I am almost 30 weeks pregnant, but I forgot to take my photo at 28 weeks, so this is close enough.

6 months!

7 1/2 months!
I am really getting big and uncomfortable now.  I cannot believe that I still have at least 2 months to go.  Everything is swelling on me, my fingers, my feet.....I feel like a big puffy mess.  Ahhh.....pregnancy.  This baby is measuring much bigger than Alex did.  I had an ultrasound at 25 weeks, and she was already measuring 2 lbs, which apparently got the attention of the doctor, because she had to reconfirm with me that I would not be delivering this baby, ahem, 'naturally.' Alex was 6 lbs 8 oz at 40 weeks pregnant, just for reference. Quite a difference!

This time around will be quite different from the first delivery because we are having a Cesarean Section.  I had a lot of complications and "issues" with the first delivery, and I have been lucky enough not to have any long-term problems from them.  But my doctor thinks if I go through another traumatic labor, I might not be so lucky the second time around.  So a scheduled C-Section is in our future.  I am not sure how I really feel about it.  I would prefer not to be recovering from major surgery as I care for a newborn and a busy toddler, but I'm sure that we will cope (lots of people do, right?!).  It is a difficult decision because it's not like C-sections are risk-free, so we have had to really weigh the risks of each and try to make an informed decision accordingly.  But one positive of a scheduled section is....the fact that it's scheduled! We are officially on the hospital books for April 21st, so unless things change (like my blood pressure goes haywire again, which is very possible, or she decides to make an earlier appearance) we know when we will be having this baby.  For a planner like myself, I must say that I enjoy that benefit!!!

Christmas Cookie Party

I hosted a Cookie Exchange party with a few friends in December.  We exchanged some yummy treats and spent the day decorating and playing with sugar cookies.  What fun!  I would like to make it an annual tradition!

Christmas 2010

Well it's February 3rd and I still have not gotten caught up on my blogging.  We had a wonderful Christmas, but I have not been any good at documenting our memories lately.  Bad blogger!

Kathryn's Photo!

Here's a 3D ultrasound pic of baby Kathryn!

Now I'm sure that all babies look alike in these 3D ultrasound photos, but I swear that I can see some of her sister's facial characteristics in this photo! :)
