I'm sure every mom who goes back to work (outside the home) has this feeling of dread. I will be fine, but I am a little panicked at the idea of being away from Alex for 8 hours. Tomorrow will be the longest I've ever been apart from her. Maybe I should have done a trial run before the big day!
I work for one of the best employers--they have a "bridge-back" program from maternity leave that allows moms to ease back into working full-time. So for the next 9 weeks I will be part-time, starting at 2 days per week for the first 3 weeks, then moving to 3 days for the next 3 weeks, and 4 days per week for the last 3 weeks. I am so lucky!
I'm going to break all the rules today and rock Alex to sleep for every nap, hold her while she sleeps, and spoil her rotten!

I hope you were able to cherish your last day. I'm so sorry that you have to leave her and go back to work, but that is so great that your employer has a flexible program. Every company should do that! I hope the transition goes very well for you and that your time apart flies by. And another question - are you telling me that at 3 months Alex already falls asleep on her own? If that's the case, I am mighty impressed!
I know, amazing, right? As long as I catch her 'sleepy cues' right on time and don't let her get over-tired, I just put her in the crib drowsy, and she's asleep within a couple minutes! I tried to hold her all day today but she's gotten so used to her nap routine that she started getting cranky. As soon as I put her down, she was fast asleep! :)
Good luck on your first day of work. I've been through it twice. You'll get through it, probably with a tear or two, but you'll both be just fine. You might find it refreshing to be in the company of adults! Who is taking care of Alex while you're at work?
Thank you! For the next few weeks while I'm part-time, we are rotating between Rich, my mom, and Katie. Then in about a month, she will go to a daycare at the church around the corner.
Gamma gets the little Princess tomorrow, I am soooo excited! We are going to have a lot of fun while we wait for Mommy!
Okay, I am officially stinking jealous of how well Alex sleeps!
I hope your first day went well!
I hope your first day went well and that it's a little easier for you that if you have to leave her...it's in the hands of people who love her almost as much as you! Auntie Katie is looking forward to her day with Alex! If you need more days you just say the word!
